Jamaal Lascelles leaving Newcastle United this summer is unthinkable, after his recent comments.

Newcastle United poured cold water on recent speculation about Jamaal Lascelles on Tuesday, albeit in a cryptic way.
Sky Sports reported that West Ham United had tried and failed with a bid for the 24-year-old defender, before the Magpies’ Twitter page responded by reminding the masses that Lascelles is their ‘captain and leader’.
Indeed, Lascelles is adored by fans of the St James’s Park, but love would turn to hate very quickly if he were to leave for East London, in light of what he said this past weekend.
Speaking to The Chronicle, the Newcastle star said: “There’s not one player here that would try to just play here to try and get a move or for more or whatever. It’s not about that. We’re loyal
“We’re a hard-working, young group of players, and it’s going to stay that way.”
With that in mind, it would be absolutely unthinkable for Lascelles to suddenly turn his back on Rafael Benitez. If he did, it would represent a unbelievable slap in the face for the North-East club.
If a footballer dares to use the L word then he should probably ensure that he wholeheartedly means it, because fans would never forget it.
That being said, the former Nottingham Forest stalwart would not have gone to those extremes unless he was very confident that he would be a United player next season, so perhaps the supporters have little to fear.
