Jake Paul was quick to reach out to Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian after hearing the latest on Ben Askren’s health struggles.
The pair shared a turbulent relationship in the build-up to their 2021 boxing match. Paul won by first-round knockout, and the lead-up was marked by physical confrontations and personal attacks – including Paul bringing Askren’s family into the war of words.
Now, years later, the American influencer put the old rivalry aside after learning through social media that Askren has been hospitalised and needs a lung transplant.
Jake Paul reacts to Ben Askren’s health struggles
Paul spoke to media ahead of his fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, saying: “My prayers go out to him. I feel sorry for his family. I can’t imagine what they’re going through.
“I just hope that he can recover because there’s so much more to life besides fighting and careers. I’m wishing him the best, and I’m here if they need any support.”

Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian, who helped promote their previous fight, revealed that Paul got in touch with him to show support for Askren’s family.
“He hit me up two weeks ago when the news broke. He asked me if I had heard and I said no. He said ‘I wanted to reach out to his family but I think it’s inappropriate. But if they need anything, I’m there for them,’ and that’s who this kid is.”

Ben Askren’s wife shares hopeful update
Ben Askren’s wife, Amy, has continued to share positive updates about his recovery. He recently entered the transplant list and was more alert and responsive.
He even tried to speak, although he hasn’t yet fully regained the ability to talk while on a tracheostomy. According to Amy’s post, at one point, Ben was repeatedly mouthing the word “coffee,” a sign of his improving awareness.
“Also please pray for whoever that donor may be, and his family. It’s going to be a huge adjustment for Ben, but our family is so thankful that his other organs are ok and that there is a path forward.”
Jake Paul vs Ben Askren saw the former Bellator man profit from an intriguing fight, and he seemed unfazed by the massive defeat afterwards.
