Jake Hastie is a player reportedly in demand, with Leeds United, Sunderland West Bromwich Albion among the clubs linked with the Motherwell teenager.

The 19-year-old, who can operate as a midfielder or as a winger, is out of contract at Motherwell at the end of the season.

Scouts from Swansea City and Sunderland are also claimed to have watched the 19-year-old in action for Motherwell this campaign.

The youngster is only just started his professional club football, but the teenager seems to be hugely ambitious.

The 19-year-old has revealed that he watches videos of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale.

The 29-year-old Wales international, who made his name at Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, has been at Madrid since 2013, and has won La Liga once and the Champions League four times.

Marcelo Bielsa, manager of Leeds United before the Sky Bet Championship match between Rotherham United and Leeds United at the New York Stadium, Rotherham on Saturday 26th January 2019.

Bielsa is a coach who likes to work with talented and promising young players who he can improve, and Hastie does appear to fit the bill.

Hastie told BBC Sport: “I looked up to Gareth Bale a lot when I was younger. When he was at Spurs in the Premier League before he made his move to Real Madrid, that’s when I really focused on him.

“Now, there’s stuff he does that I try and replicate – especially his explosive runs. When I pick up the ball, I’ll try and go to beat two or three players like he does.

“I always do it then I’ll watch him to see how I can work on my game and bring in certain aspects of his. I want to try and make something happen like he does.”
