Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to sign Jake Cooper for the Ibrox club.

Rangers are interested in signing Jake Cooper, according to The Scottish Sun, which has reported that the Millwall defender is a £1 million target for new Ibrox manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
One can understand why Rangers are reportedly interested in Cooper. The 23-year-old is a very good defender who is proven at the Championship level in England, and the Gers were not great at the back last season.
However, the 23-year-old former England Under-20 international does not appear to be thinking of joining Rangers – or any other club for that matter – in the summer transfer window, as he is focused on Millwall for the 2018-19 campaign.
Cooper told The South London Press looking ahead to next season: “There is no doubt that this season is going to be difficult. But you cannot tell going into it how teams turn up. You don’t know if the fixtures are good or bad.”
“We’re under no illusions with the squad and budget we have, our main goal is to hit that 50-point target,” added Cooper.
“We want to do that as quickly as possible. There are a lot of big teams in this league who are spending big. We’ll keep our feet on the ground.”

No Rangers move?
Cooper’s aforementioned comments suggest that he is not planning to leave Millwall, and maybe Rangers should look elsewhere if they are planning to sign a defender between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
The Scottish Sun has also quoted Millwall manager Neil Harris as saying that he is not planning to sell any of his players this summer, and maybe Rangers manager Gerrard should end his reported pursuit of the former Reading defender.
