Leeds United are said to be looking to sign Chelsea defender Jake Clarke-Salter this summer.

According to The Sun, Leeds United are considering signing Jake Clarke-Salter from Chelsea and the transfer would be a risk.

It is impossible for Leeds to ignore Clarke-Salter’s last loan spell in England, where he really struggled.

Clarke-Salter was loaned to Sunderland during their relegation season, and he was very poor at the Stadium of Light.

However, Leeds have not been put off by that spell with the Black Cats, and could now make a move for the centre-back.

Clarke-Salter has spent the last season out on loan at Vitesse, and his form in Holland has been massively promising.

The technically adept defender has come on leaps and bounds over the past year, and he was even handed the captain’s armband for England’s under-21 side at the European Championships.

The potential upside to the potential transfer at Leeds is, therefore, obvious.

If Leeds can get hold of Clarke-Salter then they could have a leader at the back and a very competent defender added to their squad to the season.

However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side would be putting their faith in Clarke-Salter faring far better than he did on his last loan spell in England, as the transfer could be a disaster otherwise.
