Jadon Sancho explained the clever title handed to his future Manchester United college, Luke Shaw, in homage to one of the all-time greats.
During an interview on England’s YouTube channel, Sancho was asked to name the hardest full-back he’s ever faced.
Unable to select from all the talented defenders he’s challenged across his career, the 21-year-old landed on the player he’d hate to come against most.
United’s newest signing selected Roberto Carlos, the iconic Brazilian left-back who tore it up at Real Madrid for over a decade.
“I would probably say, in the past, Roberto Carlos,” admitted Sancho.
“He’s a magician, plus he could do the dirty stuff as well. He has a lot to his game.
“He’s got the freestyle; he’s got the defensive side and he also can shoot as well.”

Speaking of Carlos reminded the talented winger of Shaw’s newest nickname, following his brilliant England exhibitions at the European Championships.
“We’ve got Shawberto Carlos here”, said Josh Denzel in response to Sancho’s answer.
“Shawberto Carlos, yes we do. Luke Shaw, yes we do,” he replied.
Of course, the comparison between the Red Devil’s defender and Carlos can only go so far.
However, Shaw has deserved special praise for his recent international form.
He was instrumental towards England’s 4-0 thrashing of Ukraine on Saturday, helping himself to a pair of assists.
His contribution was equally as important during the previous round win over Germany.
It’s a confidence that’s carried over from his displays with United last season, where he was arguably Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s most consistent performer.
Shaw and Sancho will be hoping to combine at club level next campaign, following the latter’s £73m (Guardian) move from Borussia Dortmund.
