Ineos are under pressure to find a new club for Jadon Sancho following his return to Manchester United.

Sancho’s brief spell at Chelsea — which came after his falling out with Erik ten Hag — looked like the end of the road at Manchester United. But things didn’t quite go as planned.

That’s because Chelsea included a £5m penalty clause in his loan deal, which allowed them to return him to United without triggering the purchase option.

After negotiations over personal terms broke down, Sancho’s permanent move to Chelsea fell through, and he is now expected to report back to Carrington before the end of the month.

With United still eager to move him on, Ineos are now tasked with finding a buyer — and Spain has emerged as a possible destination.

Villarreal emerge as potential destination for Sancho

Chelsea had a £25m option to buy Sancho, and that’s the fee Ineos will hold out for in negotiations this summer.

While there’s been some interest from Borussia Dortmund, The Athletic suggest a move to Spain seems more likely.

Villarreal have been linked as a potential fit. With left-winger Alex Baena expected to leave the club, they could be in the market for a replacement — and Sancho’s playing style is seen as a good match.

While his wages could be a hurdle, Villarreal’s qualification for the 2025/26 Champions League gives them more financial flexibility than in previous seasons.

Sancho and Rashford may face off in La Liga

Jadon Sancho isn’t the only high-profile exit on the cards at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford is also expected to leave, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination.

The Camp Nou hierarchy, however, may struggle to meet United’s £40m valuation of the forward.

As a result, United are reportedly open to a loan deal that could see Rashford head to Barcelona for the season. If Sancho also makes the switch to La Liga, the pair could find themselves lining up against each other next term.

Antony, meanwhile, continues to impress on loan at Real Betis. The Andalusian side are keen to make the move permanent, but his wages and £40m asking price present obstacles they may struggle to overcome.
