Left-back Brown has left Spurs to join Huddersfield Town.
Jaden Brown has sent a heartfelt message to Tottenham Hotspur and the club’s supporters on Instagram after finally deciding to leave the north Londoners and join Huddersfield Town.
The 19-year-old has decided to chance his arm in Yorkshire after failing to break into Spurs’ senior side, with no first-team appearances as of yet – despite being a regular fixture of the club’s Under-23 side.
The left-back’s contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and that has seen David Wagner’s Huddersfield swoop to land the England Under-19 international. A fee has not been mentioned.
Brown posted on Instagram after the deal was confirmed, stating that he will be “forever grateful” to Spurs for his development into a professional football – nine years after joining the club as a 10-year-old.
Huddersfield fans can look forward to a fleet-footed, pacy left-back that can also play on the left of midfield. In his 21 appearances for Spurs’ second string this season, he has scored three goals and created three more.
But he failed to make a single senior appearance with both Ben Davies and Danny Rose considered first choice by Mauricio Pochettino, while Kyle Walker-Peters is likely to be ahead of Brown in the pecking order.
Now, Huddersfield will look to take advantage of Spurs’ somewhat surprising decision not to renew Brown’s contract, by moulding him into a player capable of coping with the demands of Premier League football.
