Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has commented on Jacob Murphy’s future.

Norwich City boss Daniel Farke has told BBC Radio Norfolk that he is looking forward to working with winger Jacob Murphy in Germany this week amid rumours over his future.

Murphy, 22, has come up through the ranks at Carrow Road and impressed last season, notching nine goals and six assists in 37 Championship appearances.

The winger’s performances for Norwich last term have unsurprisingly attracted major interest, with Newcastle United particularly pursuing his signature this summer.

As reported by Sky Sports earlier this week, Newcastle failed with an £8million bid for Murphy, with Norwich desperate to keep hold of their star winger.

However, Murphy is understood to be a boyhood Newcastle fan and wants a move to St. James’ Park according to The Chronicle, with Newcastle pushing to tempt Norwich into a deal this month.

Rumours about a potentially imminent move were rife on Saturday afternoon when Murphy was absent for Norwich’s 2-0 friendly win over Cambridge United, with some believing that it could be a pre-cursor to joining the Magpies.

Murphy did though play for England at the Under-21 European Championships in Poland this summer, meaning he will be given a rest before being thrown back into games for Norwich.

Now, Norwich boss Daniel Farke has told BBC Radio Norfolk that he isn’t going to fuel speculation, but is looking forward to working with Murphy during Norwich’s tour to Germany this week, with Farke not expecting to lose the winger to Newcastle any time soon.

“I don’t take part in the speculation or rumours,” said Farke. “Jacob returned on Saturday and did some tests. I’m looking forward to working with him,” he added.
