Jackson Koivun holds a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the 3M Open.
Perhaps more importantly for Koivun, though, he will start the final round six shots clear of world number one Scottie Scheffler.
The 21-year-old played some truly sensational golf on day three at the 3M Open, firing a scintillating 61.
Jackson Koivun made six birdies and two eagles during his bogey-free third round at the 3M Open.
Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler was in fine form himself, shooting a 29 on his back nine to card a 64.
However, the world number one trails Koivun by six heading into the final round. Will that be too much of a deficit to overcome? Or will the young Auburn graduate struggle with the pressure of Scheffler breathing down his neck?

Koivun is the red-hot favorite to win the 3M Open with just 18 holes left to play.
However, it’s worth remembering that he is only 21 years old and the 3M Open this week is only the 13th PGA Tour start of his career.
The youngster spoke to reporters after firing a 61 at TPC Twin Cities on Saturday and responded when asked how he feels about Scheffler’s name being just below him on the leaderboard.
“He’s obviously the best in the world for a reason,“ Koivun replied.
“I’m sure he’s going to go up there and put a good number and get in contention.“
The final round at the 3M Open on Sunday should be an incredibly exciting watch as Scheffler attempts to go low and win his 21st PGA Tour title.
Jackson Koivun cannot be distracted by Scottie Scheffler’s presence
Koivun is obviously aware of Scheffler’s presence on the leaderboard.
However, he cannot afford to think about what the world number one is doing while he is out on the golf course during the final round.
Jackson Koivun has to focus on his own game and if he plays well, everything will take care of itself.
Scottie Scheffler will probably have to shoot a round of 63 at the very worst to have a chance of winning the 3M Open.
Koivun is in a very strong position heading into the final round in Blaine, Minnesota.
However, much will depend on how the 21-year-old handles the pressure of being within touching distance of his first PGA Tour win.
