Steven Gerrard’s Glasgow Rangers reportedly want Liverpool’s Harry Wilson at Ibrox next season, and former Celtic midfielder and Hull City teammate Jackson Irvine raves about the Gers target.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have been linked with Harry Wilson, and former Celtic prospect and Hull City midfielder Jackson Irvine has admitted that he would be “devastated” if the Liverpool youngster moves to Ibrox in the summer transfer window, according to comments published in The Daily Record.

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers are interested in signing Wilson on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool this summer.

Leeds United, Aston Villa and Huddersfield Town are also reported to be interested in the 21-year-old winger, who spent the second half of the past season on loan at Hull, having moved to the Tigers in the January transfer window.

Irvine, who was on the books of Celtic from 2012 until 2015, played with Wilson this past season, and the 25-year-old Hull midfielder has stated that he would be devastated if the 21-year-old Wales international winger moved to Rangers this summer, while adding that it would be a real coup for the Gers if they are able to sign him.

“But as a Celtic fan, I’ll be devastated if Harry goes to Rangers,” Irvine told The Daily Record. “This kid is incredibly talented.

“He’s not lightning quick but he has an ability just to glide past players. And he’s terrific in the final third.”

“If Rangers get him they’ll be doing well because they’ll have had to fight clubs in England,” added Irvine. “He has so much potential and if Rangers get him it’ll be a real coup.”

Quality player

Irvine’s aforementioned comments underline Wilson’s talent, and there is no doubt that Rangers would be signing a superb winger if they are able to secure a loan deal for the 21-year-old.

During his loan spell at Hull, the Wales international, who earns £4,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, scored seven goals and provided three assists in 11 Championship starts.
