Jack Wilshere has suggested to TalkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur are more desperate for a trophy than West Ham United.

The droughts continue…

Tottenham and West Ham fans have been starved of silverware in recent times, with neither side adding to their trophy cabinet for some time.

Spurs have not won a major trophy since lifting the League Cup way back in 2008.

West Ham, meanwhile, have not lifted silverware for 41 years now, since then won the FA Cup in 1980.

But Wilshere, who is currently in training with Arsenal, still feels that Tottenham are the side more in need of a cup triumph, as they need to convince Harry Kane to stick around.

“Spurs for me,” Wilshere said, when asked which team is more desperate for silverware.

“I think expectation and remember they are trying to keep Harry Kane. He wants trophies.

“He’s that important to them that I think they are more desperate for them.”

Could this be the year?

Wilshere’s answer is interesting as he represented West Ham as a player, and knows how much winning a trophy would mean for their supporters.

But Tottenham fans are also craving some success, after coming so close to lifting numerous trophies in recent times.

Tottenham and West Ham are both going strongly in the League Cup this term, so they remain in with a chance of adding to their trophy collections.

The draw for the League Cup quarter-finals is set to be made on Saturday, with both Spurs and West Ham anxiously waiting to see who they will come up against.
