Arsenal are reportedly battling West Ham in the race to sign Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko this summer – and Jack Wilshere believes his versatility could see him play in midfield for the Gunners.
Zinchenko, 25, joined Manchester City as a teenager in 2016 but over the last three or four seasons, has become a crucial part of City’s left flank. He has clocked up 128 appearances under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

But the 52-time Ukraine ace is about to enter the final two years of his City contract. The Premier League champions are likely to want to cash in – with 90Min stating that they will look for fees in the region of £30million.
Reports say that Arsenal, West Ham and Everton have all made contact with City over signing Zinchenko. Speaking about a possible move to The Emirates, Wilshere said he could see Zinchenko playing in midfield.
“He’s someone I really like, obviously he worked with Mikel at City,” Wilshere told TalkSPORT Edge. “So, if Mikel wants him, there is a reason he wants him. Arsenal are pretty strong in that area, with Tierney.
“So I wouldn’t say that they really, really need him. But one thing about Zinchenko is that when he plays for Ukraine, he plays in midfield. He can adapt to different positions, he’s versatile. If he comes to Arsenal I’d be happy with that.”
Wilshere: Zinchenko could play in midfield for Arsenal
What a signing he would be for Arsenal. A bargain at £30million, Zinchenko firstly fits Edu’s transfer blueprint. Between 20 and 25 but enormously experienced. He has 170 club appearances and more than 50 national caps.
Arsenal could do with cover at left-back, and definitely need a midfielder even after the arrival of Fabio Vieira. So, bringing in a player that can do both makes utter sense. Arsenal must be all over a deal for Zinchenko.
