Jack Wilshere has told TalkSPORT Edge that he “would like” to see Arsenal sign Everton attacker Richarlison this summer – amid reports the Gunners are rivalling Tottenham over a move for the Brazil international.

Richarlison, 25, has been linked with a summer exit from Everton – after the Toffees endured a disappointing season, eventually finishing in 16th. Despite his club’s form, Richarlison still managed 16 goals and assists in 33 games.

Reports state that Tottenham, Chelsea and Arsenal all want Richarlison. A report this week said that Fabio Paratici, Tottenham’s sporting director, is a big fan of the ex-Watford attacker and wants him at Spurs.

With a fee of £65million being touted, Richarlison will not go on the cheap. Wilshere told TalkSPORT Edge that he would like to see Richarlison at Arsenal under Mikel Arteta – despite describing him as a “strange one”.

“Richarlison is a strange one,” Wilshere said. “I think he’s a top, top player. There’s obviously something there but he’s had his problems. A little bit petulant and immature. Sometimes I like that, he cares.

“He’s passionate. I think he deserves his chance at a top club. I would actually quite like to see him at Arsenal, under the guidance of Mikel Arteta. See how he fits into that system. So I would give him an 8/10.”

Wilshere would like Arsenal to sign Richarlison

Arsenal do need an attacker despite handing Eddie Nketiah a new deal. Of course, Richarlison not only offers an option up top but can also play out wide and that interchanging of positions would surely suit Arteta’s side.

Arsenal like signing experienced players between the ages of 20 and 25 – Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Martin Odegaard and Takehiro Tomiyasu are recent examples. Richarlison is another.

With 36 caps for Brazil and 263 club appearances to his name already, he would be a superb addition. Whether Arsenal are willing to spend £65million, remains to be seen. There might have to be a level of compromise.
