Jack Wilshere has stated on his Instagram story it’s a ‘big one tonight’ for Arsenal ahead of their Premier League showdown with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The pressure is well and truly on Mikel Arteta’s shoulders because his Arsenal side have lost three Premier League games on the bounce.
It wasn’t so long ago that the Gunners were leading the charge for fourth spot and even closing the gap on third-placed Chelsea.
But, fast forward to today, and securing Champions League football is well and truly out of their hands.
Whilst Thomas Tuchel has watched his players produce indifferent performances, including conceding four the last time they played a Premier League game at home.
Many will still be backing the West London club to get the job done because, not only are their neighbours out of form, but they can’t even find the back of the net.
For someone like Chelsea, they don’t have much to play for in the league, other than peaking over their shoulder.
However, they did, over the weekend, for the third season running, book their FA Cup final ticket.
So, from that perspective, Tuchel might make changes to his XI, but either way, Arteta faces a tough task.
If Arsenal can secure those three points, then they will move level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham, whilst also sending out a statement of intent to their rivals.
And, in truth, not many statements are being made because Spurs recently lost to Brighton, whilst Manchester United got humiliated at Liverpool on Tuesday night.
