Jack Wilshere has said that Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is actually surprisingly quick, as per his comments on the ITV Football Podcast.
Wilshere played with Ozil at Arsenal for a number of years, and he remains a big fan of the German’s talents.
Indeed, Wilshere finds it hard to understand why a player of Ozil’s quality has been frozen out at the Emirates Stadium.
He said: “I used to love playing with him. Really enjoyed it. “He’s one of the best I played with. I am surprised but there is obviously something that we don’t know because a player of his quality could get into any team in the Premier League.
“To not even have the opportunity to even compete for a place is difficult to understand, but there must be a reason.
“Ozil defended. There was a lot of shouts about him being lazy, but I never thought that. If you look at his stats, he was never at the bottom of it.
“He’s actually pretty quick as well, like surprisingly.”
Ozil’s absence from Arsenal team is only making their struggles to create even more frustrating.

Mikel Arteta’s side have found it difficult to force openings this season, with one of the most talented playmakers in the league not even in their squad.
It seems highly unlikely that Ozil will be reintroduced to Arsenal’s team any time soon, though.
The World Cup winner is on a massive contract and it appears that his time at Arsenal is coming to an end, regardless of how much the team could benefit from having him on the pitch.
