Jack Wilshere has suggested that reported Arsenal target Raheem Sterling is better than Jack Grealish right now through his comments on TalkSPORT.

Arsenal prepare bid?

Arsenal have already lined up an offer for Sterling ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report in Calcio Mercato just three weeks ago.

They claim that Mikel Arteta’s side are ready to offer a choice of Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Martinelli or William Saliba and money to try and persuade City to sell the winger.

And Wilshere, who is currently in training with Arsenal, seemingly rates the £49 million winger (BBC Sport) very highly.

He suggested that although Grealish may have more potential, right now it is Sterling who is the better of the pair.

“I think Grealish has the potential to become better than Sterling, but I think Sterling’s number and consistency over the last couple of years, and with everyone doubting him all the time – and I don’t know why – I’m going to have to go for him,” he said.

If Sterling was to come to Arsenal he would offer them an even more potent goalscoring threat.

Consistent excellence

Although he has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s side this term, Sterling has scored over 10 goals in the Premier League for the last four seasons in succession.

His arrival at Arsenal would give Arteta real competition for places down the flanks, with his Gunners side already showing signs of major promise in recent weeks.

Whether Sterling would be willing to come to the Emirates Stadium remains to be seen, though.

While Arsenal could offer him more regular first-team football, they don’t have any European football on offer right now.

And for Sterling making the move to Arsenal would have to be considered a gamble, even if they are making progress under Arteta right now.
