Jack Wilshere has posted the word ‘massive’ on his Instagram story after Arsenal beat Chelsea 4-2 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Mikel Arteta and his players went into tonight’s match on the back of losing three Premier League games on the bounce.

Slowly but surely, their top-four hopes were fading away from them, but they left their best form until when it mattered most.

Take your pick – the return of Mohamed Elneny, Eddie Nketiah’s brace, Martin Odegaard running the show from the middle of the park or Bukayo Saka doing what he does best.

It was a brilliant response from these young stars to answer their critics and now go level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham.

Arsenal now know that if they win their remaining matches in the Premier League, then they will secure Champions League football for next season.

Of course, that will mean having to beat Manchester United on Saturday, as well as claiming the bragging rights in the north London derby.

Either way, this is a statement of intent from the London club and a sign that there is still life left in this Arsenal side.

Given how indifferent those chasing the top four can be, there are probably going to be a few more defeats along the way.

But what a bonus it is for someone like Arteta to have Nketiah scoring his first Premier League goals of the season at this stage of the campaign.
