Jack Wilshere has posted on his Instagram story on Thursday afternoon ‘about time’ after Arsenal defender Ben White earned an England recall.
The big-money summer signing has been in tremendous form for his Champions League-chasing side this season and his recall shouldn’t be a surprise.
Not many English defenders can claim to be in better form than the 24-year-old, who joins three of his other Arsenal teammates at St George’s Park.
It wasn’t so long ago that the north London club didn’t have any representation for England.
But this young and vibrant side, including White, Aaron Ramsdale, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe, is now heading towards the top under Mikel Arteta.
Each one of those players have tasted the international set-up before, with Saka helping the Three Lions reach the final of Euro 2020, before his spot-kick handed the crown over to the Italians.
But, for the first time, all four players will be repping that England shirt at the same time and they will be hoping for some minutes.
White can argue that he should start because it’s not like Southgate is blessed in the centre-back department.

Manchester United captain, Harry Maguire, has probably been one of the worst defenders in the Premier League this season.
But he has still been selected, although, he surely can’t start ahead of White, who has blown him out of the water at club level this term?
Either way, whilst Saka made the cut for England’s last major tournament, it was something White just missed out on when the final squad was announced.
Heading towards the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, White will want to put that right because he has every chance of earning that golden plane ticket to the Middle East.
