An elegant teenage midfielder with unbelievable ball control making a name for himself on his Arsenal debut.

Charlie Patino scoring for Arsenal during their 5-1 quarter-final League Cup win against Sunderland on Tuesday night would have brought back memories for a certain Jack Wilshere.

The 29-year-old took those very same steps Patino is now walking and he was also a Hale-End wonderkid destined for greatness.

Wilshere is best suited than most to know how Patino is feeling less than 24 hours after probably the best day of his footballing life.

When Patino hit the headlines yesterday, Wilshere was quick to take to his Instagram story to send this following message to the 18-year-old.

“Hard for paying off,” said Wilshere. “Love it Charlie boy.”

Wilshere is currently a free-agent training with Arsenal and also working with the younger age groups.

The former England international would have seen Patino work his magic first hand on a weekly basis and now see all his hard work pay off.

Of course, this is just the start because Patino must now aim to push into the first-team squad on a regular basis.

There are plenty of examples that Patino can walk down that path because Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka are now one of the first names on Mikel Arteta’s team sheet.

Not only that, Arteta is building for the future and has the youngest Premier League squad at his disposal this season.

So. there is every chance Arsenal fans might just see Patino’s make his Premier League debut during these coming weeks because Arteta has proven that he does reward you for your performances.
