Jack Wilshere has labelled Mo Salah as ‘scary’ and stated that he would pick the Liverpool man over PSG forward Neymar, as he told talkSPORT.

The former England midfielder thinks that Liverpool’s goal machine is ‘the best player in the world’ right now and someone who ‘everyone is talking about’.

Ahead of the new year, Salah is walking into 2022 as the top goalscorer in the Premier League this season and assist-maker.

Not many players can match what the 29-year-old is producing on Merseyside and he will be hoping to top 2022 off with some trophies to his name.

Nonetheless, Wilshere was asked to pick between Salah and PSG’s £200 million trickster (BBC Sport) and he did nothing but praise the man in Liverpool’s ranks.

On Salah or Neymar: “Salah,” answered Wilshere. “Everyone is talking about him being the best player in the world, at this moment and I agree.

“The types of goals he scores. The way he runs at defenders. His consistency as well over the last few years is scary.

“I think he deserves that credit. But Salah for me.”

The issue facing Liverpool now is that Salah will be departing for the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

It’s going to throw a spanner in the works and it might just dent Liverpool’s chances in the Premier League title race.

Manchester City, who are currently topping the table, will only have Riyad Mahrez departing, so their £1bn+ squad won’t be affected.

But Jurgen Klopp is going to have to deal with his best player leaving and Sadio Mane.

Either way, the Reds will be hoping that Salah does guide Egypt to glory, but if he does, then it means him playing the tournament right till the end.
