Isaac Hayden has completed his Newcastle exit with a loan move to Championship side Norwich City, with the Canaries boasting an obligation to buy the midfielder – prompting Jack Wilshere and Bruno Guimaraes to react.
Hayden, 27, finally moves back down south after numerous windows in which he was keen on a move. It is likely to end a six-year spell at Newcastle, in which he has clocked up 171 senior appearances for the Toon.
But he endured a difficult final season. The ex-Arsenal midfielder only managed 14 appearances and an injury saw Newcastle opt to exclude the midfielder from their Premier League squad for the second half of 21-22.
Now, Hayden has got himself a move and it is to Norwich – who will be looking to bounce back into the Premier League once again after relegation. He posted on Instagram, sharing his delight at securing a move.
Hayden completes Newcastle exit: Wilshere and Bruno react
It is a brilliant move for Hayden – but he will not have been short of offers. Even after the January window, there were reports that six clubs were looking at him. Now, he has a chance to revive his career.
He will be first choice for Norwich. Both clubs say that if certain requirements are met, the loan will turn into a permanent deal. That might be promotion, or an amount of games played.
Hayden was well-liked at Newcastle and plenty have replied to his post – including Bruno, Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy. His old Arsenal academy teammate Wilshere also wished him luck.
