Jack Thomson’s impressive form for the U23s has raised suggestions that he could make his Scottish Premiership debut at Rangers this season.

Jack Thomson told Rangers’ official website back in 2017 that he wanted to secure his place in the first-team within two years. And he is certainly on track right now.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been in excellent form for Rangers’ reserve team this season, earning plenty of praise from youth team coach Peter Lovenkrands along the way.
Although he is yet to make his first-team debut under Steven Gerrard, it seems only a matter of time with the Gers boss willing to put his faith in youth.
Speaking in a Q & A on the Rangers academy’s official Twitter account, Thomson has named two senior players who he is keen to take inspiration from.
“The way Ryan Jack plays and how good he is on the ball is something I aspire to,” he said. “Jordan Rossiter as well. He is excellent when he trains with us and has a great attitude.”
Former Aberdeen skipper Jack, who moved to Ibrox on a free in 2017, returned after a month out with injury in Sunday’s 3-1 victory against league-leaders Hearts. He has been quietly impressive under Gerrard, providing energy, work rate and putting out fires in front of the defence.

Rossiter, meanwhile, is a player Thomson has seen close up. The one-time Liverpool youngster has suffered from almost constant injury issues since moving to Scotland in 2016 and has therefore spent a lot of time training with the reserves.
He has only played 34 minutes of football in 2018/19, all coming against Ayr in the League Cup.
