Jack Sullivan, the son of West Ham United co-owner David, has hit back at reports regarding Javier Hernandez.

The Hammers are reportedly on the verge of signing the former Manchester United striker and Mexico star, also known by his nickname Chicharito.

Reports doing the rounds in the media claim Slaven Bilic has moved to activate the star’s £13 million buyout clause at Bayer Leverkusen and he is set to complete a move to East London this week, as reported by Sky Sports.

News of the potential deal has given rise to jealousy from fans of rival clubs such as Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and even the Red Devils who feel Hernandez would be an ideal addition for them.

The fact the Hammers could get a proven striker with a ratio of a goal every 1.4 leagues starts for what is reportedly a somewhat paltry fee of just £13m in this era of frenzied transfer values makes the deal even more remarkable.

But Jack Sullivan, the teenage son of Hammers co-owner David Sullivan – the man who takes a lead on all of the club’s transfer business – has denied Hernandez has a buyout clause of £13m.

A Twitter post by Soccer AM asked followers: “Javier Hernandez has a release clause of £13m. Retweet if you’d sign him for your club at that price.”

And Sullivan replied simply stating: “No he doesn’t.”

Whether that raises doubts over the deal or not remains to be seen with the East Londoners also said to be in for Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic and Lazio’s Keita Balde Diao.

But if the club can get the Hernandez deal over the line it would end Bilic’s 18 month search for a top level striker.

The news has excited the club’s supporters who feel Hernandez is exactly the kind of striker they have been missing for years.
