Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Jack Ruddy has told The Daily Record that he hopes to prove himself to manager Paul Lambert.

Ruddy joined Wolves from Bury in the summer of 2016 and has yet to make an appearance in the Championship this season.

The 19-year-old could make his Scotland Under-21 debut against Estonia at the Paisley 2021 Stadium tonight.

The youngster has stated that hopes to show Lambert what he is capable of.

“I can learn from my manager Paul Lambert,” Lambert told The Daily Record. “I have played for the Under-19s before and also at the younger age groups so hopefully I can show what I can do.”

Carl Ikeme is the first-choice goalkeeper at Wolves at the moment. The 30-year-old has been at The Wanderers his entire professional career so far, and has a contract until June 2019, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

While it is unlikely that Ikeme will lose his spot in the starting lineup anytime soon, Lambert should be looking at young and talented players such as Ruddy.

Ruddy is only 19 years of age, and as a goalkeeper he is too young to feature regularly for the Wanderers.

What the teenager needs to do is impress in training and for the youth team, and his chance for the senior side will come.

Perhaps it would not be a bad idea for Ruddy to leave Wolves on loan for another Championship club or for a team in League One for the first half of next season…
