Sunderland will complete a signing today, says Jack Ross.

Ross made the comments on Thursday evening following Sunderland’s pre-season friendly match against South Shields.
Ross told The Chronicle: “I am hopeful that over the course of tomorrow we may add one in a defensive area that will help us and strengthen us and give us qualities that we haven’t currently got in the squad.”
Summer activity
Sunderland have been quite busy in the summer transfer window so far and have made quite a few signings.
The Black Cats have secured the services of Conor McLaughlin, Ahmed Abdelkader, Lee Burge, Ruben Sammut and Michael Collins.

Promotion push
Sunderland finished in the League One playoffs last season and reached the final, which they lost at Wembley Stadium in London.
The Black Cats will be determined to finish in the automatic promotion places next season, and a few good signings in the summer transfer window will enhance their chances.
Ross’s side drew too many games in League One last season, and that was the main reason why they did not end up in the top two.
Sunderland also did not convert the chances they created, and that is something to look into as well next season.
