Sunderland manager Jack Ross has suggested to The Shields Gazette that he does not plan to sign a new player this week.

According to The Shields Gazette, Ross wants to add another striker on loan to his squad before the end of the summer transfer window this month.

The Sunderland boss, though, does not expect to bring in a new face this week.

Ross told The Shields Gazette when asked whether there would be any transfer business this week: “I don’t anticipate any at the moment but I have said that previously.”

Good start

Sunderland have made a strong start to the new season and are playing well at the moment.

The Black Cats have picked seven points from three League One matches so far this season and are very much among the favourites to win the title.

Ross’s side got the better of Scunthorpe United 3-0 at the Stadium of Light in the Premier League at the weekend.

While Sunderland could do with another striker, for the moment, they look good and their performances have been very encouraging.

Sunderland will face Gillingham away from home in League One on Wednesday evening.
