Sunderland will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross has suggested to The Telegraph that he will keep only those players at the club who want to stay.

The Black Cats will play in League One next season after getting relegated from the Championship this past campaign.

“It’s about trying to identify what we need to get out of this league,” Ross told The Telegraph. “It’s a question of who wants to be here.”

Warning to current players?

Ross’s comments make it clear that he wants those players who will be fully committed to Sunderland.

It is quite smart of the former St. Mirren manager, as he can build a team around motivated and hungry players during the 2018-19 campaign.

One suspects that a number of the Sunderland players will be sold, as they may not be willing to spend a season in the Championship.

Transfer speculation

Sunderland have already been linked with quite a few players in the summer transfer window.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Black Cats want to sign winger Lewis Morgan on a season-long loan deal from Celtic and John McGinn from Hiberian, while TEAMtalk has claimed that Sunderland want Grant Leadbitter from Middlesbrough.
