Sunderland are interested in signing Will Grigg from Wigan Athletic, says Jack Ross.

According to The Sunderland Echo, the 27-year-old striker is the number one transfer target for Sunderland, who are aiming to finish in the top two of the League One table this season.
Ross told The Sunderland Echo: “I’ve always been reluctant to comment on individual players. I know obviously Paul has done that at the weekend, so it’s made it obvious that we have made a bid for him.
“He’s a player that we would like to bring to the club. We have ten days left in which to do that, so it’s something we would obviously like to make happen.”

Third bid and injury concern
According to Wigan Today, Sunderland have made a third bid for Grigg after seeing their opening two offers for the Northern Ireland international striker turned down by Wigan.
The striker suffered an ankle injury during the Latics’ Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend.
Wigan manager Paul Cook has suggested to Wigan Today that the ankle injury suffered by Grigg is not very good.
Stats
Grigg has made 10 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Championship for Wigan so far this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the process, according to WhoScored.
Sunderland are third in the League One table at the moment with 53 points from 27 matches, four points behind leaders Portsmouth, who have played 28 games.
