Aiden McGeady joined Sunderland in the summer of 2017.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross has spoken highly of Aiden McGeady to The Northern Echo.
Ross has praised the attitude and character of McGeady, who joined Sunderland from Everton in the summer of 2017 for a transfer fee reported by The Chronicle to be worth £250,000 and when Simon Grayson was in charge of the Black Cats.
The Sunderland manager, though, has also admitted that the winger can moan at times.
“He cares deeply about his football and he’s been very good for me since I came to the club, even when he was injured,” Ross told The Northern Echo about McGeady.
“But there’s always that balance. As a senior player you help the younger players but you also want to play, he’s still got that drive to play every week.
“I’ve not found him that way (stroppy reputation). He cares about his football, cares about his performance level every day in training. Will he have a moan and a grump at times?
“Yeah, but so do all the players in my group – George Honeyman, Lee Cattermole, Glenn Loovens, Lynden Gooch, loads of others – but I was as bad as anybody when I was a player.”

Important player
McGeady is one of the best players in League One and has been playing well for Sunderland in recent weeks.
The 32-year-old winger has provided one assist in five League One appearances for the Black Cats so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.com.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the former Celtic and Everton winger scored seven goals and provided five assists in 28 Championship starts for Sunderland, according to WhoScored.
With Sunderland challenging for automatic promotion from League One this season, McGeady will be a key figure in Ross’s Sunderland team.
