Sunderland boss Jack Ross has loaned out a number of the most promising youngsters at the Stadium of Light this season.

Sunderland boss Jack Ross has claimed in the Sunderland Echo that either Simon Grayson or Chris Coleman should have let Luke Molyneux and Elliot Embleton leave the Stadium of Light.

Molyneux and Embleton have both departed Sunderland this season and gone out on loan spells to Gateshead and Grimsby Town respectively.

The pair have both impressed away from Sunderland, and Ross feels that getting them first-team experience has been key, as they should have been playing earlier in their careers.

“Luke’s 21 and we want to avoid players being here and not playing first-team football,” Ross said. “I do believe some should have had first-team football before, such as Luke and Elliot.

“We’ll assess Luke in the next couple of weeks.”

Sunderland have just recalled Molyneux although they are expected to relocate him for the second half of the season.

The Black Cats could look to move him to a Football League side rather than a non-league one this time around.

Embleton, meanwhile, will stay with Grimsby for the full campaign and he has done so well there.

The 19-year-old has become one of the Mariners’ most integral players, and looks at home in League Two already, which indicates he could make the step up to Sunderland’s first-team in the future.
