Sunderland stopper Jon McLaughlin has been an ever present at the Stadium of Light this season.

Jack Ross has told the Sunderland Echo that Sunderland stopper Jon McLaughlin continues to impress him through his performances in training.

McLaughlin has been an ever present in Sunderland’s team since he signed this summer.

And Ross says that he has been very impressed by the goalkeeper’s attitude.

“Jon has been very good and he is so low maintenance for me as a manager, his ability, training and performances in games,” he said.

“If you speak to Jon he will say that is his job, the bits that he did on Saturday, that’s what you’d expect him to do. The big moments, that is why I was so keen to bring him to the club.”

McLaughlin helped Sunderland keep a clean sheet last night, as they overcame the challenge of Doncaster Rovers.

Sunderland won 1-0 at the Keepmoat Stadium to strengthen their push for an automatic promotion spot.

Sunderland are just one point behind second placed Peterborough United, and they have a game in hand.

The Black Cats went into the season as favourites for promotion, and they have been able to live up to their billing so far.

Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Southend United.
