Sunderland defender Bryan Oviedo has been linked with a move away from the Stadium of Light.

There has been a lot of speculation over Oviedo’s future this summer, with the Costa Rican linked with a move away.
And some Sunderland fans were concerned that Oviedo’s departure may have been edging closer after he was left out of their squad to face Gillingham last night.
However, Ross has confirmed that Oviedo’s absence was because of injury rather than him nearing a move away and the full-back could be back involved for the Black Cats at the weekend.
“Bryan got a knock towards the end of the game and he hasn’t recovered as well as we’d hoped so he hasn’t travelled at the moment, but there’s a chance that if he does a bit of training tomorrow, he might travel down Thursday evening,” Ross said.

“We’ll see how he is tomorrow evening.”
In spite of Oviedo’s absence, Sunderland were still able to beat Gillingham 4-1 on their travels last night.
Ross’ side have now moved up to fourth in the League One standings, after making an encouraging start to life in the third tier.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on AFC Wimbledon.
