Sunderland boss Jack Ross is hunting at least one new forward this month.
Jack Ross has re-iterated in the Chronicle that he wants to sign a striker at Sunderland this month.
Sunderland have been linked with both Will Grigg and Marc McNulty recently, as they scour the market for additions.
And Ross says that Sunderland are interested in signing one front man at the very least in the coming weeks.
He said: “If Josh [Maja] remains at the club, then we want to bring one (forward) in. If Josh goes, then obviously that becomes two because we need to have enough attacking options.
“And by attacking options, I probably mean natural, out-and-out strikers. We’ve really played the whole season with Josh and Charlie (Wyke), coming back fit, as our only natural strikers.”
Josh Maja has carried most of the goalscoring burden for Sunderland this season, with the striker hitting 14 goals in 24 League One appearances.
Beyond that Sunderland have failed to find another prolific scorer though.
If the Black Cats can find another clinical number nine then Ross’ side’s chances of promotion will surely increase.
Sunderland are currently in third place in the League One table, just one point away from the automatic promotion spots.
Ross’ side are next in action against Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park on Saturday.
