A new face could be arriving at the Stadium of Light soon, according to Sunderland boss Jack Ross.

Sunderland are yet to make a January addition, but Ross is known to want new signings to come in this month.
And the Black Cats are seemingly edging closer to bringing in their first new recruit.
“Still hoping to bring one in the beginning of the week, it is not all done and dusted yet but hopeful that will be the case and it will strengthen us again,” he said.
The Chronicle have suggested that Sunderland’s new signing will be a defensive one.
The Black Cats already have one of the best defensive records in League One, but Ross still feels that improvements can be made.

Sunderland are currently in third place in the League One table, after drawing with Charlton Athletic at the weekend.
The Black Cats are next in action tomorrow evening, when they take on Newcastle United’s under-23’s, but it seems unlikely that any new signing will arrive in time to feature.
