Sunderland are set to target defenders in the January transfer window.

Jack Ross has suggested to the Chronicle that Sunderland won’t be signing strikers in January.
Sunderland are set to welcome back Duncan Watmore and Charlie Wyke in the coming weeks, with the pair making it back from injury.
And Ross feels that when Watmore and Wyke are fit again, Sunderland will have all the fire-power they need.
The Black Cats will have money to spend in January, but Ross now wants to target defenders and midfielders in the new year.
He revealed: “You can’t predict what might happen between now and January but to counter that, Charlie Wyke will be back around then, Duncan will be available before then, so in forward areas we will be getting two back who aren’t available at the moment.
“There are other areas of the pitch that we might need to look at, depending on what happens.”

If Sunderland are able to improve the quality of their squad, it should be a concern for the rest of League One.
Sunderland already look to be among the leading contenders for promotion, and currently sit in fifth place in the table.
Ross’ side have been impressive over the early part of the campaign, and if they can add even more talent to their squad, they will start to look a serious threat.
Sunderland return to action this weekend, with a match against Shrewsbury Town.
