The Sunderland boss is still looking to strengthen his squad before the loan window closes on August 31st.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Saturday, and hinted that he will be targeting the loan signing of a talented young player with potential, rather than established star, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo.
Ross, who took over as manager at the Stadium of Light this summer, also admitted that he would like to bring in a new face before his side’s Carabao Cup clash with Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday night.
The 42-year-old Scot spoke to reporters, and responded when asked whether he was targeting quality younger players from higher division sides or experience from clubs around Sunderland, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo:
“I think probably the former, to be honest, because it’s a balancing act with what we’re going to have coming back. I’ll be conscious of that. “At the moment we’re probably looking for potential rather than proven (players) because of the proven ones in the squad who will be back sooner rather than later.”

The Black Cats have begun their League One campaign in decent fashion, taking four points from their opening to games, but they will still be up against it this season, if they hope to secure promotion back to the Championship.
League One is an incredibly tough division to get out of, and Ross will have to ensure that he brings in one or two more top quality signings on loan, if Sunderland are to have any chance of earning promotion this season.
