Celtic are reportedly closing in on St Mirren star Lewis Morgan.
St Mirren boss Jack Ross has told BBC Sport that he is expecting a clear decision on Lewis Morgan’s future in the next seven days.
Morgan, 21, came up through the Rangers academy before leaving in 2013 in order to join St Mirren, and it’s a move which has paid dividends.
The playmaker hit 10 goals in 46 games last season, catching the eye in the Scottish Championship, and he has built on that with a superb record so far this term.
Morgan has notched 10 goals in just 24 outings this season, serving as the driving force in St Mirren’s push for promotion to the Scottish Premiership.
The problem for St Mirren is that Morgan’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he will certainly be leaving the club in 2018 in order to seal a big move elsewhere.
BBC Sport report that Celtic are set to sign Morgan in January for a fee of around £300,000, before loaning him straight back to St Mirren for the rest of the season.
That would allow Morgan to aid St Mirren’s push for promotion, before he can eventually link up with Celtic ahead of next season.
Now, St Mirren boss Jack Ross has told BBC Sport that a clear decision will be made on Morgan’s future in the next seven days, with the January transfer window on the horizon.
