Max Stryjek of Sunderland makes a save during a Pre-Season friendly match between Grimsby Town and Sunderland AFC at Blundell Park on July 17, 2018 in Grimsby, England.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross’s comments to The Sunderland Echo regarding Max Stryjek suggest that the goalkeeper could be sent out on loan in the second half of the season.

Stryjek is on loan at Eastleigh in the Vanarama National League from League One club Sunderland at the moment.

According to The Chronicle, the 22-year-old goalkeeper will be at Ben Strevens’s side until December 22.

Sunderland manager Ross has suggested that the youngster will be back to the Stadium of Light in January, and he seems to have hinted that the young Polish custodian could be sent out on loan again.

Ross told The Sunderland Echo: “Most likely Max will come back in January but we’ll let him get this loan period concluded and then we’ll make a final decision on that as well.”

Back out on loan

Stryjek has yet to break into the Sunderland first team, and it would make sense for the youngster to go back out on loan again for the second half of the season.

True, the 22-year-old could make the substitutes’ bench for Sunderland from time to time in the coming months, but he is at a stage when he needs to experience competitive first-team matches.

A short loan spell at a club in League Two for the second half of the campaign will be a good idea.
