Sunderland striker Jerome Sinclair is set to be involved at the weekend, when Jack Ross’ side are in action again.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross takes questions during a press conference at The Stadium of Light on August 2, 2018 in Sunderland, England.

Jack Ross has confirmed to the Sunderland Echo that Jerome Sinclair’s return to his side is a ‘huge boost’.

Sinclair came off the bench for Sunderland in their Checkatrade Trophy tie with Stoke City’s youngsters last night, and he caught the eye in his cameo role.

The attacker provided Sunderland’s attack with an added threat after entering the field.

And Ross admits that having Sinclair available for selection is great news for his side, ahead of their match against Fleetwood Town at the weekend.

He said: “He’ll certainly be part of the squad, if we hadn’t had this game he would only have trained and it would have been more difficult.

“But from what he did tonight, he very much comes into our thoughts and that is a huge boost for us.”

Sunderland failed to get the fourth striker that Ross wanted during the summer transfer window, so Sinclair could yet have an important role to play for the Black Cats this term.

The Watford loanee should certainly inject more pace and creativity into Sunderland’s attack, when he does get fully up to speed.

Sinclair was unable to get a winner for Sunderland last night, as they drew 0-0 with Stoke in the cup.

Sunderland are currently in fourth place in the League One table, and appear to be right among the leading contenders to be promoted this season.
