Tottenham youngster continues to impress.

A lack of invention in midfield has been evident for Tottenham in recent matches, with options thin due to injuries.

Despite this, Spurs have been reluctant to look towards the academy for help.

At the weekend 20-year-old midfielder Jack Roles showed his game changing ability with a superb performance for the under-23s.

Roles scored twice to inspire a 2-1 win over Leicester, after coming off the bench in a 34th minute substitution.

Under-23 coach Wayne Burnett had made a tactical shift to turn the game around, with Spurs 1-0 down.

Roles stepped up, scoring his seventh and eighth goals of the season from midfield.

The 20-year-old’s goals changed the game and gave Spurs a much needed win.

Roles is hoping to earn a new contract and his goalscoring efforts, in addition to his six assists this season, may be enough to earn him an extension.

The real way for Tottenham to find out is to give Roles a chance in the first team.

Mauricio Pochettino may need a player who can come on and change a game.

Roles deserves an opportunity to show he can impact Premier League matches too, and Spurs should consider including him on their bench.
