Sunderland have signed Adnan Januzaj on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
Sunderland midfielder Jack Rodwell has told the Chronicle that he has been very impressed by the addition of Adnan Januzaj.
Januzaj has joined Sunderland from Manchester United on loan for the remainder of the season, and the winger has made a positive impression.
The Belgian international has scored once in his first four appearances for the Black Cats, and Rodwell believes that he is one of a number of new signings who can make an impact at the Stadium of Light.
“A few of the new lads I only met at the end of the week but the lads that came in earlier have settled in well,” Rodwell said.
“Paddy [McNair] and Donald Love know the manager, so it’s been easy for them to transition into the team. Januzaj speaks good English and he’s a great player as well.
“It’ll maybe take a few weeks for everyone to get to know each other. It’s more about getting to know the players.
“For Papy Djilobodji at the back to make a good partnership [with Lamine Kone] could take a few weeks but he’s looked strong when he’s played.”
Januzaj’s talent has never been in doubt, but his career appeared to be stalling at Old Trafford.
The youngster seemed to be on the verge of breaking into United’s team, but he failed to establish a place and dropped out of contention following Jose Mourinho’s arrival.
At Sunderland he is expected to be handed regular first-team football, and the winger could start later this evening in his new side’s match against Everton.
Sunderland go into the match having failed to win any of their first three Premier League matches, meaning the pressure is on them to collect the three points.
