Bud Cauley has finally claimed his maiden PGA Tour win after emerging victorious at the RBC Canadian Open.
Cauley has clinched his first title on his 239th start, doing so with a two-shot victory at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.
The American carded rounds of 69, 63, 66 and 65 to finish his week on 17-under, two clear of Matt Fitzpatrick in second.
Cauley, who began his final round a stroke behind Jackson Suber, has now received congratulations from golfing royalty after his hard-fought PGA Tour win.
Jack Nicklaus congratulates Bud Cauley after RBC Canadian Open win
A message from legendary figure Jack Nicklaus on Instagram read: “Congratulations, [Bud Cauley]!
“What a tournament and first [PGA Tour] win at the [Canadian Open]!
“You played it and finished it like a champ, and YOU ARE the champ!
“And you did something I could never do, which is win in Canada.
“I know that your wife Kristi and your entire family are very proud of you!
“It’s been a loooong journey since that horrible day in June of 2018 at Muirfield Village, with the car accident.
“The injuries, the surgeries, the years away from the game.
“Oh boy, you have been through so much.
“Then all the hard work you put in to come back.
“It’s all worth it, Bud!
“Hopefully this is just the start of many more victories!
“I know everyone at The Bear’s Club was absolutely there with you today in spirit, rooting for you. “We are all so happy and proud of you!
“Barbara and I both congratulate you on a job well done, and wish you good luck next week in the [US Open]!
“As your son Cooper said to [Amanda Balionis] on the 18th green today, ‘Good job, Dad!’”

What has Bud Cauley earned for his first PGA Tour win?
It’s a hugely impressive feat from Cauley, who has secured his first win eight years after his career almost ended in a car accident at the Memorial Tournament.
He’s shown true spirit and strength to recover from that in superb fashion, setting a fantastic example to his fellow PGA Tour players.
The 36-year-old has, of course, been rewarded for his efforts in Toronto, where he has just earned $1,764,000.
That total is part of the $9.8 million purse, while Cauley has also collected 500 FedExCup points for his victory.
And as Nicklaus mentioned, he’s just outshone the 18-time major champion by triumphing on Canadian soil.
