Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that he thought that Aston Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish was ready to make a big mark for England at Euro 2020.

The former Manchester United and England international defender has said that having spoken to Grealish during the European Championship, he could sense that the Villa star wanted to play on a regular basis.

The 25-year-old made one start and four substitute appearances for England at Euro 2020 this summer.

Grealish provided two assists in those games.

The Villa star came on as a substitute for England in the Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley last night and did not take a penalty during the shootout.

Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel: “Jack never said it, but I just sensed that he is one of them guys, man, ‘Please, I beg you, let me play’.

“You can feel he would be sitting there, going, looking around the stadium, the energy in that stadium, the electricity in that stadium and going. He is one of those who do not shrink in that environment.”

Jack Grealish situation

People have been calling for Grealish to start regularly for England on social media for days.

However, England head coach Gareth Southgate did not use Grealish much, and the Three Lions still reached the final.

And England lost on penalties.

Grealish would have been very disappointed not to get too much playing time.

But the attacking midfielder will know that Southgate did what he did for the good of the team.
