The defender initially moved to Nottingham Forest on loan in 2013.
Nottingham Forest’s Jack Hobbs has admitted he is considering his options with a new contract unlikely this summer.
Forest manager Aitor Karanka has already intimated that Hobbs – who moved to the City Ground five years ago – will depart at the end of his existing deal this summer.
And the 29-year-old – who Karanka says could feature in one of the Reds’ final two fixtures – hopes to continue at Championship level, despite having only made one league appearance since February 2017.
Hobbs said, in quotes published by the Sun: “The gaffer has said some nice things about me which is always is good to hear, but it is unlikely I will be offered a new deal.
“I have spent five years at Forest which is a long time and we will see what options come up in the summer.
“I am raring to go and I just want to make up for lost time. I am feeling good at the moment, I am training every day and I just want to play now.
“Injuries are frustrating for any player, but I have been fit for a while now and not been selected to play which is even more frustrating.”
Fit again Hobbs – who was once on Liverpool’s books but made the bulk of his career league appearance in England’s second tier – added: “I just want to play football now. Clubs will look at my injury record recently, but I feel I still have a lot to give.
“Before I joined Forest I was playing 40 games a season at Leicester and Hull and I never really had a bad injury until I came to Forest.
“A lot of players struggle with injuries and it is part and parcel of the game, but I am over them now and I feel amazing – as fit as I’ve ever been.
“I’m feeling good [now]. I’ve got my fitness back. I feel strong and now I want to kick on. I just want to be playing league football every week.
“I feel I still have a lot to give and I have good experience of playing in the Championship over the years so I feel I could do a job for a team out there.
“I see old team-mates playing for other clubs now and challenging for promotion to the Premier League and I want that myself.”
As well as Hobbs, Chris Cohen, David Vaughan, Ashkan Dejagah and Juan Fuentes are all set to depart Nottingham Forest on free transfers.
The futures of loan players Jack Colback, Lee Tomlin, Kieran Dowell and Costel Pantilimon remain uncertain, meanwhile.
