Jack Hendry has raved about reported Rangers target Fashion Sakala, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.
Rangers are interested in bringing Sakala to Ibrox, according to a report in The Daily Record earlier this month.
The report claimed that Rangers are planning to offer a pre-contract to the KV Oostende star and secure his services for the 2021-22 season and beyond.
Hendry plays with the 23-year-old forward at Oostende, having joined the Belgian club on loan from Rangers’ bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic in the summer of 2020.
The 25-year-old Scotland international central defender has spoken highly of the youngster.
Hendry told The Scottish Sun about Sakala: “He’s very quick and scored another couple of goals for Oostende last weekend. He’s a player with real potential.
“He is not the finished product but he has definitely got the potential to kick on. I’m sure there are many teams interested in him right now.
“He needs to remain focused, see out the season here and see where things take him. He’s still only 23 but he can go on to play at a good level.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Sakala is only 23 years of age, and there is room for improvement and potential for the Zambia international to grow further.
True, Rangers have a very good attacking unit that includes Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos, but the Gers need to look forward.
Signing the youngster on a free transfer in the summer of 2021 would not be a bad idea.
According to WhoScored, the forward has scored eight goals and provided two assists in 19 Jupiler Pro League games so far this season.
