Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has suggested to The Telegraph that his teammate Anwar El Ghazi cannot believe how hard the Championship is.

El Ghazi joined Championship side Villa on loan from French club Lille in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old winger has scored one goal and provided one assist in three Championship starts for the Villans so far this season, according to WhoScored.

Grealish told The Telegraph: “I was speaking to Anwar [El Ghazi] this morning and he was asking me about Bristol City.

“I told him they play good football and he just puffed his cheeks out – I don’t think he can believe how hard the Championship is, coming from France. It’s absolutely relentless, but we have to be ready for it.”

Big match

Bristol City are playing well at the moment, and Villa will find it hard to win against them away from home in the Championship this evening.

The Championship is a very tough competitive league, and it is not going to be easy for Steve Bruce’s side to finish in the top six.

Players like Grealish, who is 23 years of age and can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, and El Ghazi will be key for the Villans in their quest to finish in the Championship playoffs this campaign.

Villa reached the Championship playoff final during the 2017-18 campaign.
