Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish has hailed Dean Smith’s recruitment.
Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Dean Smith has worked brilliantly in the transfer market to bring fearless players to the club.
Villa lost at home to Championship winners Norwich City on Sunday, but now head into the play-offs to take on rivals West Bromwich Albion.
Villa are one of the favourites to go up after recently going on a 12-game unbeaten run, which included 10 successive wins.
Smith has become a hero at Villa Park, which will have been a dream for him having grown up supporting Villa as a boy.
West Brom will still pose a stern test, but Villa will be eyeing a return to the Premier League after a stunning 2019 under Smith, who was appointed as Steve Bruce’s successor in October 2018.
Smith has only had one transfer window, but signings such as Kortney Hause and Tyrone Mings have impressed, though Lovre Kalinic and Tom Carroll haven’t made a huge impact, and Frederic Guilbert only arrives this summer.
Still, star playmaker Grealish has suggested that Smith has worked wonders to bring in signings who play without fear, feeling that nothing at all bothers them and they feel like nothing can stand in their way.
“The manager has brought players in who seem to play without fear,” said Grealish. “Nothing bothers them. We’re all young, we’re all desperate to try and improve and try and impress and we just go out and play football and nothing stands in our way,” he added.
