A busy morning for Manchester City as Arsenal complete the signing of Gabriel Jesus, before the Premier League champions announced a deal for Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United – prompting reaction from Jack Grealish.

Jesus, 25, joins Arsenal for a fee in the region of £45million after the Brazil international had entered the final 12 months of his contract at The Etihad. For a similar fee, City have brought in Phillips from Leeds.

Arsenal were in the market for a striker after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left for Barcelona in January, while Alexandre Lacazette has returned to Lyon on a free transfer. Eddie Nketiah has put pen to paper on a new deal.

Jesus leaves after scoring 95 goals in 236 appearances for Manchester City, joining his third club in professional football. He will wear the no.9 shirt and has agreed a long-term contract with the Gunners. Grealish responded.

Grealish reaction: Arsenal complete Jesus signing and deal for Phillips

Certainly a busy morning for City, who have also cashed in on teenage talent Darko Gyabi – who goes the opposite direction to Phillips. He has penned a contract at Leeds until the summer of 2024 for a £5million fee.

Phillips played 232 times for Leeds, helping them win the Championship and stay in the Premier League for the last two seasons. He was also a part of England’s Euro 2020 side, alongside Grealish, playing every game.

Grealish also gave his reaction to Phillips joining Leeds – with the two players growing closer after England duty. A similar move to Grealish’s, in that the playmaker left his boyhood club for Manchester City.
