Jack Grealish has shown his affinity towards Aston Villa still stands strong, after posting on Instagram during their game against West Ham United last night.

Still supporting Villa

Grealish came under fire from sections of the Villa crowd after leaving them to join Manchester City in a £100 million transfer earlier this summer.

The reaction to the move could have threatened to sour his relationship with the club he has supported all his life.

But Grealish was cheering on Villa from afar yesterday, and showed his backing to Dean Smith’s side on social media.

Painful viewing

Unfortunately for Grealish and Villa it did not turn out to be a happy Sunday afternoon for them.

The claret and blues were outplayed by West Ham United, as they slipped to their fourth defeat in a row.

Villa went behind early on when Ben Johnson netted from the edge of the box, before Ollie Watkins equalised.

Smith’s men were unable to build on that goal though and once Declan Rice’s long range beat Emi Martinez they were unable to get back into the contest.

A red card for Ezri Konsa in the second half really harmed Villa’s chances of pulling off an upset, before West Ham went on to add late goals through Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen.

Villa now sit in 15th place in the Premier League table, with the pressure beginning to build on Smith, after a disappointing start to the campaign.
